Case study of Transportation systems on school

Introduction

With the globalization of the world, the financial and commercial sectors developed vastly. As a result of that it has made a new trend to new technology on mathematic and mathematics calculates related manners of teaching scenario. In early days, it was a big task to do calculation where in the commercial fields and learning scenarios with local manner. Then most of the student who learnt in rural schools specially felt boring without having the new technologies on mathematic calculations.

Then with the introduction of new technologies into school learning scenario the students have the benefits in most cases they have on the tasks especially, in the tasks on mathematics and any subjects matters relating of calculations. Then the spreadsheets use mostly.
A spreadsheet is a tool which can be used simultaneously in any calculations. Then, the spreadsheet which has taken place as a solution for these tasks leads the pioneer part of most of calculations in financial or commercial field in any institutes. Then, with the aspiration of this, here is presented a project relating to calculation using mathematical functions on spreadsheet.



Background information of the project

The principal leads a discussion on the matter about the impossibility to start the school on time as the result of student’s delay coming to the school. The matter was discussed is, having such result it is difficult to start the school on time. And also it cause to uncleanness of the school surrounding. Then the principal ask the students to make a project regarding this matter. Then, the head prefect was the in charge of the project and the prefect board bears the responsibility to do that. The principal asks the prefects board to enclose the project on the reasons of delaying and the suggestions to overcome that.



Pedagogical aspects.

Here the students can absorb variety of benefits. Students can have the knowledge of utilize the diagrams or charts system as correct communicative method.
This team work is based on school community and therefore students are to be able to develop their personality by presenting the quality of organizing ability, controlling and monitoring, leadership, conscious of others’ opinion etc….
Having the competency of find out and over come the troubles in day to day life using the computer and mathematical knowledge is a good benefit to the students.
The social, economic situations and cultural differences in local area is to be learnt and acknowledge by students and they can have the ability to investigate, evaluate the facts which relate the student’s delaying and the ability of find out the conclusion for those through the various sides.
Considering the current situations and presenting the solutions for the troubles that occurs in day to day life is a skill to be absorbed by the students. And also comprehend the result of one fact is affect to the whole by engaging a practical task like this
Teacher Skills

The teacher should have knowledge of working in word process and a spreadsheet with a good knowledge of inserting charts and transferring charts through the intra net. The teacher should have a good knowledge of projects.

Teacher should help the students for their short comings where necessary. Such as finding tools, macros opening excel and word process, working in the intranet etc.
Student Skills

The students should be able to collect data at the correct time and summarize the collected data into an out line. The students should be able to work in the spreadsheet; creating charts on collected data. The students should be able to present the quality of organizing ability, controlling and monitoring, leadership, conscious of others’ opinion etc….


Project plan

01.1 Lead a discussion on the implementation of the project. Under this, students have to consider about followings.
· The day of starting the project.
· Time /duration
· The information which have to be
collected.
· Investigate the student’s transportation
systems. (On foot, public transport
services, by bicycle, school services vans
etc…)
· The troubles on transport services.
· Information gathering methodology.

(Take a sample of the students who comes after on time to the school and getting information them using a questionnaire.) (Annex 01)

02. Gathering information

The prefect board Present the questionnaires and gather information on the students who come after 7.30. a.m. Then the students sample is divided into categories according to the transporting systems they use. Then it can be divided into categories easily and can be taken separately.

After the categorizing the students by the way of their transportation systems to the school, two prefects have to take the responsibility to find the information in each category.

03. Organizing the gathering information

The information gathered from the above ways has to reformulate in certain order. Then student have to follow following manners

· The manners of transportation
· The distance from house to school
· The gender
· The ages
· Family background
· Environmental factors.


04. Data presenting

The data presenting models may be varying. Students have to take their own way to present data. But the given way to present data is by charting. Students have to utilize the spreadsheet to do the task and can be used the bar charts, column charts, pie charts etc… (Annex 2).


05. Conclusions

05.01 Tips for conclusion.

When students make conclusions they should have analyze and consider following things vastly.

· How it could be affect the way of transportations to come to school after on time?
· How could it affect the gender for delaying?
· How could it affect the age for delaying?
· How could it affect the distance from house to school for delaying?
· How could it affect the economic, social and cultural facts for delaying?

According to the found out results and based on the charts, students have to make out the conclusion how these facts are affected for delaying some students to the school .




05.2 Suggestions.


According to the found out result and based on those results students have to present their view on the topic and the suggestions to overcome them. Then they can use spreadsheet to present the results. When making the suggestions students can be uses the tips which have shown in the conclusion stage
